Looking at the logarithmic plot

The linearized data clearly has several different sections representing different phases of the epidemic. This is another reason for linearizing data: you can see effects which are hard to observe in a plot of just the number of cases as a function of time.

We are going to focus on two particular regions: the original March surge and the “third wave” in the fall.
