Lesson 3: Models and Representations

In this lesson, you will begin learning about the use of representations and models in physics.

There are 2 learning objectives for this lesson:

  1. Use models and representations to visualize complex physical phenomena in a simpler way.
  2. Calculate the average speed and average velocity of an object.

The Particle Model

The particle model is used as a way to simplify things. Let’s say we want to analyze the motion of a cow. Let’s call our cow Daisy. We want to find out how long it takes Daisy from the fence gate to the barn when she hears the dinner bell.
